Life can be stressful. It doesn’t matter if it’s a crisis at work, trouble with children, your spouse, all three or something personal to you. Stress means different things to different people, and some people deal with it better than others. However no matter how good you are at dealing with stress sooner or later you are presented with a situation where you feel like you are drowning. You don’t know what to do, and if you do, you don’t have enough time to do it. You worry about things and small problems seem huge.

When you are faced with an insurmountable list of tasks, or emotions you simply have to take time to put things in perspective. You can only do what you can do. Here are our top 5 tips for dealing with stress.
- Accept Help
People can tell when you are stressed, and inevitably people offer help. Take it. Forget pride, bravado, or responsibility, identify how other people can help and use them. If you live a l-up life then they owe you anyway!
- Make a list
Write down everything that is stressing you out. Break it down into categories and start prioritising it. What can you do right now that will have the most impact on this list?
- Be Realistic
You can’t do everything. Don’t try. Work through your list and break things down into as small a task as necessary so that it becomes manageable.
- Don’t be afraid to tell people to wait
Sometimes there comes a point where you simply cannot achieve everything that is expected of you. People understand, and if they don’t, then tough. Sometimes you just have to be clear and tell people straight that the deadline is not going to be met, or that you can’t make an appointment. This act alone, will instantly remove a lot of stress.
- Keep focussed on the bigger picture
This time will pass, you will have a myriad of challenges and stresses pop up in your life. Deal with it. This is merely a tiny moment in time that you feel like this, embrace it, and use it to motivate you, get shit done. L-up
